Hi there!
I don’t know about you, but growing up I always looked forward to the “Sunday Funnies.” I’d eagerly pull the special section from the LA Times and devour each comic strip - filled with classics like Peanuts, Dilbert, Cathy, The Far Side, and Doonesbury.
My ultimate favorite is Calvin & Hobbes, about a precocious, mischievous, and adventurous six-year-old boy; and Hobbes, his stuffed tiger. Created by cartoonist Bill Watterson, Calvin & Hobbes, ran for ten years (1985-1995) and is recognized as "the last great newspaper comic” by many critics. It should be no surprise that Calvin and Hobbes’ perspective on broad issues (like environmentalism, public education, and philosophical quandaries) still manages to remain timeless even today.
Levity and humor is so important when tackling big subjects and it’s something that we always strive for at Chief of Stuff. Currently, we’re really enjoying producing our “Bored Meeting” audio series, which covers the intersection of pop culture and technology.
Below we’ve curated a special “Sunday Funnies” featuring a selection of Calvin & Hobbes comics that correspond to our podcast conversations. Each episode is linked so you can easily listen along and make sure to follow our channel so you don’t miss our latest episode about Dinosaurs dropping on Thursday, November 2nd. We promise it’s anything but boring!
Enjoy!
